Blind Lake, also called Jarba Xhoo or Jarbazo Lake, is about 28 km from Skardu city in the Shigar District. To get there, you usually drive for 30 to 45 minutes, then either walk a short distance or take a rough dirt road. If you have a 4×4 vehicle, it takes around 35 minutes on the main Skardu-Shigar road, followed by a bumpy 5- to 7-km drive or a 30-minute walk along a dirt track.

Blind Lake is in the Shigar Valley near the Cold Desert. Magnificent mountains and lush landscapes frame this tranquil and scenic lake. Rama Lake in Baltistan is a popular destination for camping along the lakeshore. It is in the breathtaking Rama Meadows of Astore Valley, in the region of Gilgit-Baltistan. Access to the lake requires 4×4 vehicles.

The cost of a round-trip jeep ride to Rama Lake is 8,000 PKR. There is a 20-minute jeep ride, then a 30- to 40-minute horse ride, and the round trip costs 3,000 PKR each. Afterward, you can enjoy the incredible crystal-clear water of Rama Lake.

5. Upper Kachura Lake

The distance from Skardu to Upper Kachura Lake is approximately 25 km, and travel time depends on road conditions. By car, the journey typically takes 45 to 60 minutes; by jeep, about 40 minutes; and by bike, around 1 hour. The route follows Skardu through Lower Kachura and finally to Upper Kachura Lake.

The water is crystal clear and fresh. Although there were once many brown trout in the lake, overfishing has significantly reduced their numbers. However, snow carp (desi machli) are still abundant. There are a couple of restaurants near the lake that serve reasonably good food; however, the quality can vary, so it is wise to check the food and utensils before ordering.

Commonly engaged activities at this tourist destination include boating, skiing, photography, and enjoying nature retreats. Visitors often come to appreciate the natural beauty and panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. In spring, apricot trees flourish around the lake, while in winter, the lake often freezes over, adding to its allure.
