To get to Skardu directly from Islamabad, you must road travel 700 km via Babusar Pass, and from Lahore 1220 km which takes 12 to 18 hours respectively. Once you are in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, you have two options to travel to Hunza Valley.
By Taking Direct Flight
The first is to fly directly to Skardu airport, which takes an almost 1-hour scenic aerial flight above the Karakoram and Himalayan Ranges. By air distance from Islamabad to Skardu is about 318 km (198 miles). You can hire local cars and Prados to explore the tourist attractions of Skardu on a per-day rental basis.
By Public Bus
You can ride on public transport like Faisal Movers, K-2, and Mashaburam Travel buses at affordable prices via Karakoram Highway. The ticket price is almost 4500 to 5000 per person one way. On the way, you can explore the beauty of the Karakoram ranges, Nanga Parbat View, Kohistan, and the Indus River. There´s no direct bus from Lahore to Skardu, so you must go to Islamabad first.
By Private Car
If you love to travel separately by car you can buy a seat or hire a complete car with an expert driver from Islamabad to get to Skardu. It is suggested not to go to Skardu directly from Islamabad. You should take some night stays in Naran or in Chillas while going to Skardu. In a car per seat costs you 7000 to 9000 on one side.
