The region of Azad Kashmir is home to some invaluable gems that cannot be found elsewhere in the world. One such gem is Ratti Gali Lake, situated in the Neelum Valley of Azad Kashmir. This lake is perched at an elevation of 12,130 feet, with its water sourced from glaciers that melt in the surrounding area.
Ratti Gali Lake is recognized as one of the most stunning and highest lakes in Pakistan. Enclosed by mountains and vibrant green grass, it offers a refreshing experience to all who visit. The tranquility, magnificence, colors, and scenery of Ratti Gali are unparalleled.
Access to Ratti Gali is possible from Dowarian, a village in Neelum Valley located approximately 236 km from Muzaffarabad. From Dowarian, a 4×4 Jeep is necessary to reach the Ratti Gali Base Camp, which is 18 km away. After arriving at the base camp, a trek of about 1 to 1.5 hours will lead you to the breathtaking Ratti Gali.
Due to heavy snowfall, Ratti Gali remains closed during winter, with the roads blocked from November to April. It is best to visit during the summer to appreciate the lush meadows surrounding the lake. The sunrises and sunsets at Ratti Gali are spectacular and worth witnessing.
