Raikot Sarai (where Sarai is a Persian word meaning Inn is a camp resort situated atop the lush, forested Fairy Meadows in northern Pakistan, at an altitude of 3,306 meters. Fairy Meadows Cottages may seem average in absolute terms, but when compared to other options in Fairy Meadows, they rank among the best. The establishment of several wooden cottages with attached washrooms, a spacious dining hall, and majestic grassy lawns near streams and ponds. The cottages are surrounded by trees and jungle, offering a breathtaking view of Nanga Parbat, which stands majestically in the east. Witnessing the dawn view of this iconic mountain is a must.
The accommodation is generally comfortable, although the rooms are small. The bathrooms are basic, and hot water is available upon request. The service is efficient, and the staff can prepare a variety of basic meals, including chicken, biryani, lentils, and vegetables. Hotel and camping Rates are slightly higher due to transport charges also added.
A campfire in the lawns is a great activity, and the cottage staff will take care of the arrangements for you. The atmosphere is pleasant, with a warm view of Nanga Parbat. The welcoming attitude of the locals adds to the relaxing climate.
Fairy Meadows Cottages offers a home-like experience with excellent hospitality. The people are friendly and accommodating. You need to hire a jeep from Raikot Bridge to the jeep stop, which takes about one and a half hours. A two-hour trek on foot then led me to the cottages.
Now functional, Fairy Meadows Cottages at Bunar Das is just a 30-minute drive from Chilas and situated before Raikot Bridge. It features lovely hospitality from the management, with 20 beautiful rooms. It’s an ideal location for travelers, located on the way from Islamabad or Naran to Gilgit-Baltistan.
Situated peacefully along the Karakoram Highway at Buner Das, it is perfect for an overnight stay if you are traveling to Fairy Meadows, Astore, Gilgit, or Skardu. Lunch is also available upon request. Additionally, Zong and SCOM networks work perfectly at this location. I absolutely loved the cozy log cabins! They provide a fantastic bonfire and camping site. The staff were incredibly courteous and welcoming, accommodating all our needs with grace. Not to mention, it was the only place we found in the north that served flavorful spicy dishes to satisfy our Lahori taste buds.

Reaching Fairy Meadows can be challenging due to landslides, so you should take a horse ride of 2 hours. After approximately four hours of jeep travel followed by a trek, you will arrive at Fairy Meadows Cottages. The accommodations are basic, some equipped with European toilets, but the perfect draw is the view of Nanga Parbat. The weather can get cold and rainy, so packing layers is essential. The stargazing and scenery are among the best I have ever experienced.
